Tomato Chutney


Onion, big
Tomato, medium
5 cloves
Dried red chilies
3 (as per taste)
Coriander Leaves
½ cup
For seasoning:
1 tbsp
Mustard seeds
½ tsp
Urad dal
1 tsp
Curry leaves
5-6 leaves
As per taste

  • Heat ½ Tbsp oil in a pan, add the red chilies and fry for 5 seconds.
  • Add roughly chopped onions, peeled garlic cloves and salt. Fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add roughly chopped tomatoes and fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Finally, add the coriander leaves and cook for a minute.
  • Transfer the mixture into a plate and let it cool.
  • Once the mixture has cooled down, grind it into a fine paste.
  • For seasoning , Heat ½ tbsp of oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds and Urad dal. Allow it to splutter. Then add the curry leaves and fry for 2-3 seconds.
  • Lastly, mix this seasoning with the ground chutney paste.
  • Serve with idly or dosa.
